Some of the time my solo shows will be just me, my guitar and harmonicas, especially if space or set-up time is limited. However, most of my solo shows are "one-man-band" shows. Dave Harris, Canadian musician, busker & songwriter, and the author of "Head, Hands, & Feet - a Book of One Man Bands" defines a One Man Band as someone who simultaneously plays more than one instrument at a time.

My one-man-band shows involve singing while playing a stringed instrument such as guitar, resonator guitar or banjo as well as playing a harmonica or kazoo on a neck rack while simultaneously playing a set of "footdrums." This creates a full sound much more like multiple musicians playing together.

The foot drums are a very interesting instrument invented and built by Pete Farmer of Farmer Musical Instruments. This unique instrument provides bass drum, snare drum, hi-hat, cymbal, shaker, tambourine and cowbell - all operated with a variety of foot pedals leaving my hands available for other instruments.

Many of my "one-man-band" shows will also include other instruments such as banjo, ukulele, harmonica and kazoo.

About PapaGreyBeard

I've been making music of one sort or another most of my life. If you include my crying and screaming as an infant then I've been making music from the minute I was born.   more...

I play in a variety of configurations from a one-man-band to a 3, 4 or 5 piece band.

I often play solo, just me, my guitar and harmonicas though most of the time it is as a "one-man-band" which includes my foot drums and often other instruments.   more...
I sing with a number of other people. Some can be heard in the music clips on my music page However, most often my duet partner is Stefani Capizzi and we book as Stefani & Keith. You can view the Stefani & Keith web site here and Stefani's web site here.
I am the co-founder of a small band called Spider Roulette that has been playing around Vermont since the late '80s. Currently it includes Carrie Cook on upright bass & kazoo; Michael Kirick on harmonica, flute & washboard and, Stefani Capizzi on guitar myself. In addition we often have other musicians sit in with us. You can visit the Spider Roulette site here.
